Makita is an awesome tool and I'll keep buying them

Great Hammer Drill Exactly what we needed to get the job done. Worked great, always great quality products form Makita.

Brief content visible, double tap to read full content.Full content visible, double tap to read brief content.Wanted a fairly compact hammer drill but wanted a decent brand so settled on Makita. Build quality is excellent. Lots of torque. Metal chuck and gearbox. Hopefully it will give me years of reliable use. I've owned DeWalt and I think the build quality is alot better on the Makita.Read moreRead less

Negative Highlights (12%)

It has good torque and power. Due to the high-quality metal gears, it's a bit heavier than the smaller models, but it can also be used as a drill. It's best to order batteries and a charger at the same time if you don't already have them.

This drill was a replacement as my old drill's chuck was stuck open. This new one looks good but is definitely the heaviest drill I have ever used had I known that I probably wouldn't have bought it.

Useing a drill at work chamfering off plastic pipes with a drill chamfering tool and the drag burnt out my drill so went fOR the Makita DHP458Z LXT its a tad on the heavy side but loads of power chamfering pipes easy peasy good quality build very sterdy drill think it will last a long time would recommend this drill

Well made, able to do all I need, a little haevy, but still very pleased

Makita quality and robustness as expected. A bit heavy to use all the same, and the impact power is insufficient for tiles and concrete. In short, I regret having chosen this percussion version

Beautiful machine, powerful and efficient, on the other hand it is heavy and bulky. Not recommended for simple screwing and small jobs, rather replaces a corded drill.

It was a great price so I jumped in! All seems good early days though it's quite a heavy piece of kit, but enjoying the power

top product, really very good and powerful, the only downside is the weight but the quality is there. I really recommend this drill.

Positive Mentions

we're going to drill into some wood we're going to drill into some steel and then we're going to take it over and drill into some concrete as well to check out the hammer drill mode

the xp814 had no problem in the wood and the metal

this makita half inch hammer drill accomplished everything we set out to do

Negative Mentions

as i expected in speed two that's just asking a lot so we're gonna go down to one no problem at all blowing through that

it didn't accomplish the 2 and 9 16 bit in speed two but you know dialing that down to speed one it did quite fine

a couple of times just wouldn't finish the task which we didn't expect it to but putting it down into uh in the first gear it had no problems whatsoever eating through whether it was the pt or that laminated veneer the lvl beam as well
